In the last month, the EV4EU project has been actively engaged with BRIDGE activities – the European Commission initiative that brings together Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe projects focused on smart energy systems, particularly in the areas of Smart Grids, Energy Storage, Islands, and Digitalization.
Throughout its lifecycle, the EV4EU consortium has been fostering strong collaboration opportunities by actively participating in BRIDGE activities, including its working groups on Data Management, Regulation, Consumer and Citizen Engagement, and Business Models, as well as the annual General Assembly.
Since its launch in 2022, EV4EU has taken part in three editions of the BRIDGE General Assembly. This year’s meeting was held in Brussels and remotely on March 25–26 and featured the participation of Ana Rita Nunes, the project manager at INESC ID.
The BRIDGE General Assembly brought together key stakeholders from European energy projects for a two-day event dedicated to innovation, collaboration, and sharing knowledge across the energy sector.
The two-day agenda showed BRIDGE’s effort to turn innovation into real impact across Europe’s energy sector. EV4EU’s participation provided a great opportunity to contribute to this goal while connecting with fellow European projects and laying the groundwork for future collaborations.
“Attending BRIDGE was an excellent opportunity to witness how European projects contribute to recommendations and shape policies through the outstanding work being carried out in the different Working Groups. There was a great focus on the market implementation of new technologies to boost innovation in Europe“, shared Ana Rita Nunes.

Looking back to EV4EU’s recent involvement in BRIDGE initiatives, the project was featured in the BRIDGE Knowledge Sharing Session on Cross-Sector and Multi-Energy Integration, held on February 28. Organized by the BRIDGE Working Group on Regulation, the session is part of an ongoing effort to facilitate knowledge exchange among European energy projects.
The event gathered members from various BRIDGE working groups to address key challenges and opportunities in energy sector integration. Discussions focused on identifying barriers, showcasing innovative solutions, and sharing best practices from pioneering projects, including EV4EU, ENFLATE, SENERGY NETS, and U2 Demo.
Representing EV4EU, was again Ana Rita Nunes, who provided an overview of the Horizon Europe project, offering some practical insights into real-world challenges encountered during the project’s implementation and lessons learned to guide future initiatives.
According to Hugo Morais, project Coordinator at INESC-ID, “Bridge is an opportunity to exchange with other projects and align methodologies allowing a better re-use of the work that has been done in the projects. Bridge is essential for the capitalization of the results of the projects enabling synergies and a continuous growing of concepts, solutions and regulation.”
