On October 17, Matej Zajc and Tim Marentič from the University of Ljubljana, presented the EV4EU project during the Slovenian Energy Conference VEK 2024. The talk focused on the opportunities and challenges of V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) technologies and the development of flexibility markets.
During their presentation, Zajc and Marentič provided an in-depth overview of the four pilot sites of the EV4EU project, with a focus on Slovenia’s demonstrator and the development of a local flexibility market platform. They highlighted the potential of V2X services, including smart charging and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) solutions.
The talk was based on a paper “EV4EU – Electric Vehicles Management for carbon neutrality in Europe: Opportunities and Challenges of V2X Technologies in Establishing a Flexibility Market” co-authored with Andreja Smole, coordinator of the Slovenian demonstrator at GEN-I, and Hugo Morais, project coordinator of EV4EU at INESC-ID.
The VEK 2024 conference took place in Ljubljana, gathering over 70 participants including energy experts from government agencies, research institutions, industry stakeholders, and associations to discuss the future of the Slovenian energy sector.
Throughout the two-day event, participants explored key topics related to the current state of the Slovenian and global energy sector, as well as Slovenia’s challenges in transitioning to a low-carbon society. Many speakers emphasised the importance of smart charging and V2G potential.
Team members Igor Mendek, Klara Anžur, and Dušan Golubović from the University of Ljubljana also attended, further reinforcing the university’s commitment to advancing Slovenia’s energy future.
