EV4EU’s final activities in Slovenia

Following the EV4EU Final Event at TRA 2026 in Budapest on May 19th, Slovenian partners still had a full lineup of activities ahead. In late May 2026, team members from the University of Ljubljana, GEN-I, and ABB participated in a series of high-profile national conferences and events, marking the final activities of the project before its conclusion at the end of May.

The events were once again an opportunity to showcase the project results, demonstrating how smart charging and Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) technology will stabilize the future grid.

2nd All-Slovenian Energy Conference (VEK2026)

Organized by CIGRE-CIRED (the International Community on Electricity Distribution) and the Slovenian Association for Energy (SZE), the 2nd All-Slovenian Energy Conference (VEK2026) took place from May 26 – 27, 2026, in Ljubljana.

As a major gathering for Slovenia’s power systems engineers, researchers, and policy makers, the venue provided an ideal forum to address the technical demands of integrating millions of decentralized “batteries on wheels” into existing distribution grids.

At the event Tim Marentič, from the University of Ljubljana, presented the article  “EV4EU – Electric Vehicles Management for carbon neutrality in Europe.” The presentation took place through the insight of the Slovenian demonstrator in Krško – from the challenges of electrification in the distribution network, through V2X aggregation as a source of flexibility, to the preliminary results of V2G testing in the local flexibility market (LFM) and the role of University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

Green Transformation Conference 2026

Shifting the focus from deep power engineering to macro-level policy, business integration, and cross-industry cooperation, the Green Transformation Conference took place on May 27, 2026, at the Celje Fair Congress Centre.

EV4EU partner Matej Zajc brought the project’s expertise as a featured panellist in the roundtable discussion “Mobility and Energy as a Unified Ecosystem.”

The roundtable highlighted that electric mobility requires an immediate, “unified ecosystem” approach. This means aligning urban planning, charging infrastructure deployment, and renewable energy generation so that more electric vehicles on the road help us use more solar and wind power, instead of holding it back.

Slovenian Consortium Final Event & Live Demo

The Slovenian Demo final event took place on May 26, 2026, with fourteen partners gathering at the ABB Facilities in Ljubljana for a final wrap-up. The team organized a practical, live Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) demonstration to show the project’s Slovenian Demo milestones. The live demo was related to the live demonstration of the communication between a V2X Charging Station (CS) and an EV simulator.

The technical setup successfully showcased real-time, bidirectional communication between a specialized, hardware-ready V2X charging station and an interactive EV simulator. This live event demonstrated that bidirectional charging infrastructure can seamlessly exchange both data and energy in real time, offering attendees a concrete look at the future of urban energy flexibility.
