The latest edition of the EV4EU General Assembly (GA) was held in Lisbon on January 14th, organized by INESC ID, the project’s coordinating institution.
Six months after the previous General Assembly hosted by EDA in July on the island of São Miguel in the Azores, this meeting brought the consortium back together in Portugal to discuss progress, key results, and strategic directions as the project enters its 31st month.
With only 11 months remaining until its conclusion and all Demonstrators fully operational, it is crucial to keep up the pace and define clear strategies to ensuring the successful conclusion of the project.
As usual, the meeting began with a round of presentations, starting with an overview of the dissemination and management progress by INESC-ID. This was followed by a discussion on the KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for the demonstrations, including updates on the progress of the four demonstrators in Portugal, Slovenia, Greece, and Denmark.
After this session, participants were divided into four groups for an Innovation Workshop hosted by GEN-I who is leading the project’s innovation task and plan. Andreja Smole, the task leader, organized the groups according to each demonstration site to facilitate discussions on the project’s innovative solutions.
With less than one year remaining until the project’s conclusion, it is important to prioritize the delivery of results. The GA provided an excellent opportunity to showcase some of the key solutions being developed:
- Open V2X Platform by PPC – an open-source system for managing electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.
- Technological Challenges of V2X: Battery Degradation by SEL – to evaluate the battery degradation when different scenarios of V2X are applied
- City-Level Co-Simulation Platform by INESC ID – allowing the joint simulation of the city traffic, the distribution network, and the V2X management strategies to ultimately help with the decision of best placement for EV Charging Stations at the city level.
With all four demonstrators now active, the meeting also served as an opportunity for partners to share the latest outcomes, address key technological barriers, and discuss the regulatory framework.
For the first time in an EV4EU General Assembly (GA), the meeting welcomed members of the EV4EU Advisory Board, who are also part of the EV4EU sister projects: Marisca Zweistra (ElaadNL) from the Scale project; Ville TIkka (LUT University) from the Drive 2 X project; Josh Eichman (IREC) representing the FLOW project and Rainer Schruth (Virtual Vehicle Research GmbH) from the XL Connect project.
Following the GA, all partners participated in the “Driving Energy Transition in the EU: The Role of Electric Mobility” Conference & Exhibition, held on January 15th. This event also included the four Advisory Board members, who served as panelists in the session titled “V2X European Alliances – An Overview,” providing insights into the electric mobility landscape across European countries.
