EV4EU was part of the 11th International Conference on Advances in Clean Energy Research (ICACER 2026) held on April 11th in Porto, Portugal.
The event was a chance to share the project results, which are nearing completion in May 2026. Hugo Morais, EV4EU Coordinator and Program Chair for the conference, delivered a high-impact keynote speech that traced the project’s evolution from its initial goals to its proven real-world outcomes.
During his keynote address, “Achievements and Results of the EV4EU Project,” Hugo Morais provided an overview of how the project has developed solutions to achieve carbon neutrality through smart EV management.
As Program Chair, Hugo Morais also facilitated a broader dialogue on clean energy.
“ICACER 2026 allowed us to demonstrate that the tools we’ve built – from bidirectional charging algorithms to regulatory recommendations – are no longer just theories. They are functional solutions ready to scale across Europe,” noted Morais.
The project has developed advanced tools and methodologies to enable efficient EV charging management, grid-friendly operation, and seamless interoperability across diverse stakeholders, including system operators, aggregators, and end-users. Key innovations include bidirectional charging (V2G/V2X), the integration of EVs into flexibility markets, and the deployment of interoperable communication frameworks based on open standards.
