On September 18 and 19, members of the V2X Cluster gathered on the Isle of Wight in the UK, to showcase ongoing projects, share lessons learned from real-world demonstrations, and discuss the future of vehicle-to-everything (V2X) integration. The two-day meeting was held in the context of the Drive2X General Assembly – one of the eight projects within the V2X Cluster.
The EV4EU Project was represented by Matej Zajc, a researcher at the University of Ljubljana, who contributed on the first day as a member of the Drive2X Scientific Advisory Board (SAB). Matej participated in a live demonstration of bidirectional charging at the Drive2X demonstration site on the Isle of Wight.
The second day focused on UK V2X Engagement Sessions, where all Cluster projects presented their latest research. The programme opened with remarks from Gill Davies (UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero – DESNZ) and continued with a series of 10-minute pitches from leading European initiatives. Representing EV4EU, Matej highlighted the project’s four main demonstrators and key achievements. The session was chaired by Sophie Randall (Innovate UK).
In the afternoon, Matej chaired a thematic discussion on high-priority V2X topics. The EV4EU/UL researcher introduced the 2ZERO partnership and explained the role of the V2X Cluster within it. The discussions explored five focus areas:
- Data/AI tools & Cybersecurity – moderated by Will Maden (Charge My Street)
- Battery degradation – moderated by Ville Tikka (LUT University)
- Communications & Interoperability – moderated by Stephen Large (Hangar19)
- User aspects – moderated by Tom Barker (Cybermoor)
- Policy & Regulation – moderated by Andrew Winder (ERTICO)
The EV4EU project actively contributed to discussions, especially on Battery degradation and policy and regulation, ensuring its insights and results were fully represented.
The meeting concluded with a joint commitment to strengthening collaboration between UK partners and the V2X Cluster. The next V2X cluster gathering is scheduled for 24–25 November in Utrecht in conjunction of SCALE project final event.
