EV4EU at the 2026 BRIDGE General Assembly reinforces commitment to European Energy Innovation

As EV4EU approaches its conclusion in May 2026, the project remains committed to contributing to the European energy landscape. On March 23rd and 24th, the project participated in the BRIDGE General Assembly (GA) in Brussels  for the third consecutive year.

The BRIDGE annual GA is the main gathering for Horizon Europe projects, policymakers, and industry experts dedicated to the clean energy transition. Since its launch in 2022, EV4EU has been an active member of this European Commission flagship initiative, which unites projects focused on Smart Grids, Energy Storage, and Digitalization.

The 2026 edition featured onsite participation from Ana Rita Nunes, EV4EU Project Manager at INESC ID. This year´s discussions highlighted some of the most pressing challenges shaping Europe´s energy future, especially in today´s complex geopolitical context. Key topics under discussion included the digitalisation and automation of grid infrastructure, interoperability and sector integration to enhance flexibility, flexibility and storage solutions enabling renewable integration and risk management and planning to address physical and cyber threats.

The Assembly also addressed regulatory and market barriers, challenges with AI and data sharing practices, emerging business models, and the importance of a consumer-centric perspective in the energy transition.

Strengthening coordination and alignment across projects is key to building a more secure, resilient, and sovereign European energy system — and to successfully navigating the challenges of the energy transition.

In addition to the participation of the GA, the EV4EU consortium has contributed throughout the project lifecycle to the BRIDGE Working Groups: Data Management, Regulation, Consumer and Citizen Engagement, and Business Models. By participating in these groups, EV4EU ensures that its findings on electric vehicle integration are translated into meaningful policy recommendations and technical standards across Europe.

The EV4EU final event is scheduled for May 19th, 2026, at the Transport Research Arena (TRA 2026) Conference in Budapest, Hungary.
